Building Community Capacity through Broadband

Community Area Networks–or CANs–create 21st infrastructure controlled by the community to increase public safety and effectiveness. By partnering with the local private sector, communities create 21st century jobs and stronger local economies.

 

 

 

 

 

The concept
Broadband is a must-have infrastructure for Wisconsin communities to thrive in the 21st century. With increased broadband penetration Wisconsin will:

  • Make more Wisconsin businesses capable of competing globally.
  • Reduce government costs while streamlining government services.
  • Address needs of unemployed through access to employment prospects and online resources.
  • Improve educational opportunities through access to specialized online learning opportunities.
  • Expand health care through telemedicine.
  • Increase the option for telecommuting.
  • Increase the likelihood that businesses and people will want to continue to move here and stay.
